When I watched the season 2 premiere of Heroes, my friends all remarked with, "Well, that sucked." And I replied with, "Yeah, it was a little slow...but they're just setting up the season's storyline. It'll pick up soon."
Episode 2. "They're still getting the ball rolling. "
Episode 3. "At least they are using the paintings again."
Episode 4. "My faith has forsaken me."'
So what the hell went wrong? What is season 2 missing that made season 1 great?
Show creator Tim Kring in an interview with Entertainment Weekly published in this week's issue says, "We took too long to get to the big-picture story." In addition to this, Kring mentions the slow pace, Hiro's elongated stay in feudal Japan, un-compelling new characters, and bad romances, such as Claire and her new boyfriend, as other main causes in the shows decline.
However, it is not over for our brave Heroes. At the end of his interview Kring states, "The message is that we've heard the complaints- and we're doing something about it." And they have.
Starting with the seasons six episode, "The Line," the show's quality has improved greatly.
And if this past week's episode "Four Months Ago..." is any indication for the rest of the season, we are in for one kick ass ride.
